Cable News Briefs;
Information that can save you money. The Washington Post, H1, 12/6/1998- Telecom Giants buy Congress
The nation's local, long-distance and wireless-phone companies have spent $166 Billion on legislative and regulatory lobbying, since 1996 --more than tobacco, aerospace, and gambling lobbies combined. AT&T ranked second in lobbying spending. But within the [1995-1997] period, AT&T's spending declined from $4.3 million in early 1996 to $3.7 million at the end of 1997.
WHO SAYS CONGRESS IS CORRUPT?
The "cost of providing of information" to Congress, a PC term for bribing legislators, is more than the government spends on educating high school pupils.
When will you wake up Mr & Mrs America?
The Congress is taking bribes !!
It should be illegal for Congress to take any "campaign funds" from Lobbyists or from anyone who owns a Lobbyist.
To be constitutional, limits cannot be put on campaign giving. It must be, as in the Hooker Business, they are prosecutied for TAKING MONEY!!!
Congress is a bunch of HOOKERS. Let's make it illegal to take the money, just as it is for all hookers.
ANY CONGESSMAN WHO TALKS ABOUT "CAMPAIGN SPENDING LIMITS" IS A LIAR.
They know the "john" can't be busted for spending money. The illegality is "TAKING THE MONEY". JUST FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!
