America Fights Back
W A S H I N G T O N, November 8, 2001 —
In recent days, President Bush and others in his administration have gone out of their way to thank the Saudi government for their support in the war against terrorism. But there has been grumbling as well. Some say the Saudis were slow to freeze the assets of alleged terrorist organizations. Others say that the Saudis could be more aggressive, or at least more cooperative, in terms of tracking down terrorists.
And while the majority of the hijackers were Saudi, and bin Laden is Saudi, the government has revoked his passport, his family is quite prominent there, and many members of his family lived and worked and studied in the U.S. It's a complicated relationship to say the least. Just how strong, and how deep, is the friendship between the two countries? Are the Saudis, as some allege, playing both sides? We'll take a look at this relationship that is so crucial, and yet at times so infuriating

Koppel says it evacuated bin Laden Family Members, with Bush's permission.
